Threshold Legal Advisors was founded by Ethan Attebery on a simple idea: you should understand exactly what you’re signing and what it means for your future.
Ethan is a licensed attorney in Missouri with several years of in-house experience supporting a national veterinary management organization operating hundreds of locations across the country. In that role, he worked closely with executive leadership on employment, commercial, and transactional matters, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating the same types of agreements professionals are asked to sign every day.
That experience provides a different perspective. Ethan understands how companies approach contracts, where flexibility actually exists, and how decisions are made behind the scenes. He has seen what matters to employers, how risk is allocated, and where individuals often leave value on the table simply because they do not have the right insight or guidance.
Threshold Legal Advisors is built on that foundation, bringing a practical, business-minded approach to contract review. This is not academic legal advice or generic commentary. It is clear, strategic guidance grounded in real-world experience on the company side of the table.
Today, Ethan works with professionals to break down complex employment agreements into straightforward, actionable insights. Clients walk away understanding key risks, identifying leverage points, and knowing exactly how to move forward, whether that means signing with confidence or negotiating from a stronger position.
Outside of his practice, Ethan lives in the St. Louis area with his spouse and their two goldendoodles. He values clear communication, thoughtful decision-making, and helping others approach important moments in their careers with confidence.
- In-House Perspective
Not just legal theory. Real world insight from the company side of the table
You are not getting a generic contract review. You are getting legal guidance from someone who has worked directly with leadership teams to understand how companies actually approach employment agreements, risk, and negotiation.
- Clear, Practical Advice
No legal jargon. Just what matters to you.
Every review is designed to be straightforward and actionable. You will understand the key risks, what is standard, what is not, and where you may have leverage.
- Outcome Focused
Know exactly what your next move is
The goal is not to just review your agreement. It is to put you in a position to move forward with confidence, whether that means signing as-is or negotiating more effectively.
- Tailored to Your Situation
Every role, offer, and company is different
Your agreement is reviewed in context, taking into account your role, seniority, compensation structure, and long-term goals.
Legal advice should not be confusing or buried in jargon. We prioritize clear, direct communication so you fully understand your agreement, your risks, and your options.
Employment opportunities often come with tight timelines. We prioritize efficient turnaround, so you have time to review, understand, and act without unnecessary delay.
We provide candid advice, even when it is not what you expect to hear. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions with confidence.
What types of agreements do you review?
We focus on employment-related agreements, including offer letters, employment agreements, non-compete and non-solicit agreements, equity and compensation structures, and separation agreements.
How does the process work?
You start by completing a short intake form so we can check conflicts and confirm we are a good fit. Once cleared, you will provide us a copy of your agreement and additional context, and then we provide clear, actionable review with key risks, insights, and suggested next steps.
How quickly will I receive my review?
Turnaround is typically fast to match the pace of employment decisions. Most reviews are completed within a couple of business days, with expedited options available when timing is critical. Please let us know your timing expectations on the intake form.
What will I receive after the review?
You will receive a straightforward breakdown of your agreement, including key risks, what is standard or not, and where you may have leverage, along with practical guidance on how to move forward.
Where do you represent clients?
We work with clients from all over on employment agreement review. While licensed in Missouri, if any state-specific issues arise, we can help you coordinate with local counsel if needed.
